Discipline and Policies

To comply with the Acas Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures (PDF, 167KB), your employer should have written policies and procedures for how workplace issues are dealt with.

Your employer should explain these policies and procedures clearly to you when you first join. Make sure you are aware of all the rules that apply to you at work, as breaking the rules could result in disciplinary action – and even dismissal.

You are entitled to a written statement of particulars of employment, including reference to details of any disciplinary rules, within two months of starting your job.
