Hours of Work

Covered in this topic:

All workers, including temporary agency workers (‘temps’), must be given details of their working hours in a written statement of employment particulars, on or before their first day at work.

The written statement must set out your hours of work, including normal working hours (for example, shift arrangements), any terms as to ‘normal working hours’, the days of the week you must work, whether those hours or days may vary and if so, how, and how this is decided.

All workers also have certain basic rights relating to working hours and minimum rest breaks.
