What is the minimum wage for young workers?
As of 1 April 2019, the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for workers aged between 18 and 20 is £6.15 per hour. 16 and 17-year-olds are entitled to at least £4.35 per hour. Apprentices under the age of 19 (or over the age of 19 but in the first year of their apprenticeship) are entitled to £3.90 per hour.
National minimum wage rates are adjusted each year. Under the age of 16, there is no minimum wage protection.
